Many of the rules that govern regular clay do not apply to paper clay. Jerry Bennett, a leading international paper clay artist, will conduct a hands-on workshop that will provide an opportunity for students to explore and experience new approaches to functional pottery and sculptural forms using paper clay.
Join visiting artist, Jerry Bennett, as he guides you through how to make paper clay and bonding slips for hand-built forms. In this two-day workshop, expand your understanding of this unique material by adding various fibers to the clay to make both functional pottery and sculptural forms. Gain valuable insight as Jerry shares practical, problem-solving advice related to your studio work (i.e. how to fix broken work, reduce shrinkage in clay, and prevent cracks).
We will be working with cone 6 porcelain so please bring to the workshop hand building tools plus a small pair of scissors and a clean canvas to work on. Participants in this hands-on workshop will receive clay materials and handouts that will provide valuable information about paper clay, glaze formulas, and supplier information.
June 28, 2025 (10:00am – 5:00pm) & June 29, 2025 (10:00am – 4:00pm)
$180 / $5 materials fee (payable to instructor at the time of class)
